new coloring book !

Join Ziggy, a local surf grommet, as he shows you his favorite things and special surf spots. This is a coloring book for those ages 2-92 and can be used over and over. Color with "crayola washable crayons" and wipe clean with a towel or napkin. Great for long car rides and sunny beach days!

'fried egg'

I decided to take apart an old bodyboard and try shaping it into a flexible paipo board. I put a deep concave down the center. I call it the fried egg..lol. Can't wait to try it ( probably will break after the first wave!)

sunny shapes:)

Super stoked on these boards. Took out the sims today and had a blast surfing the shoreline barrels...and stayed away from the massive holiday crowd:). The 'sunfish' has turned out to be a great kneeboard, but is also fun for bellyboarding and carving down long lines.

finished!

My finished Paipo! It's really fun to ride...So much better then a 'pop-out' body board!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

After riding some of manny's stubbie boards, I have been having a reaccuring dream of riding an endless wave. Some how, in my dream, this wave makes perfect, logical sense- a constant, continum with no beginning or end. I have taken this idea and began to create some new designs...in hopes of creating the same feeling in my dream. I will post some of these visual ideas soon...but for now, here is a new painting in the works:)

"Essence" oil and relief carving

fresh from the studio....

The Paipo "Sunfish"...

This is my first Paipo blank...I call it the "SunFish" because its shape is inspired by the majestic Sunfish. I'm going to finish this board out with a wooden handle and deck engraved design..

test-flight

Took my board out for the first time today! I was pretty stoked to get it in the water and paddle it out. It was a really small day, so catching waves was a bit of a challenge. Got one..in a hour..haha...but not strong enough to stand up! ( I don't know why, but here is something natural about paddling on a wood board:) )
