Took my board out for the first time today! I was pretty stoked to get it in the water and paddle it out. It was a really small day, so catching waves was a bit of a challenge. Got one..in a hour..haha...but not strong enough to stand up! ( I don't know why, but here is something natural about paddling on a wood board:) )

I started painting and carving the sanded finish:)

I started hand-shaping my first wood surfboard today. I'm making it out of laminated pine, so it has a little flex. It's about 7ft tall and 1 ft wide. I'm super stoked on it...can't wait to try it!

process of a drifter...

"Simmons Ode" no. 2 & 3

Here's no. 2 and 3 from "The Drifer"series. I found these two beautiful pieces of wood in the trash. They cleaned up nicely and the wood was wonderful to carve. This is my tribute to the great Bob Simmons.

"Drifter" oil and etching on wood. ( approx 4ft by 2.5ft).
This is the first painting for my new series titled " The Drifter".
All the wood is recycled or found.
